The state Secretariat has been a big meeting place or Adda for various sections of people especially the media people for decades. Even the Assembly building in the name of CLP and TDLP were beaten for the media people.
Good or bad they were stationed there and used to run the activities on a day to day basis. Now that both the venues are being demolished they have to find an alternative.
Secretrait was an easy meeting place and centrally located to Hyderabad and surrounding areas. It becomes somewhat difficult for the media after the demolition and till the new buildings are constructed.
Publicity cell and media room are very popular where all kinds of people come and meet the media. Now the media has to run around various offices to cover various ministries. Earlier one reporter could cover all the Ministries and CMO easily at the state secretariat.
But K Chandrasekhar Rao has started a new address called Pragathi Bhavan. Now and then he has been meeting the media here. During YS Rajasekhar Reddys time, media used to meet the CM almost on a daily basis for some reason or the other. The MLAs and Ministers used to just walk in to meet the CM at the secretariat.
We can say that Secretariat was a regular beat for the Chief Ministers. Now you can meet the CM only if you have an appointment.
Let’s hope the new Secretariat will come up in a short span of time, with the required Vaastu apart from the hi-tech facilities and the Chief Minister KCR steps in on a daily basis.
