People voted Congress party in Telangana thinking that all of them would get 200 units of free power in general. Now they are talking about the white card rules and regulations.

All of them do not have the said white ration cards. There are pink card holders whose income is very less. When will the eligible get the ration cards is a different matter altogether.

The two discoms service around one crore domestic power connections in the state. Rules and procedures for Gruha Jyoti are being framed and the government will make a final decision on eligibility criteria.

Once the government gives the go-ahead, then the utilities are expected to collect Aadhaar details of the occupants of homes. “The primary eligibility criteria is that those seeking to be included in the scheme should have a white ration card.

Those who may not possess a white ration card can apply for one as per government guidelines. Adding beneficiaries to the scheme will be continuous process,” .

The Aadhar card is another issue. Some of the power consumers do not have Aadhar card. The Xerox shops and the E-Seva shops are making a fast buck in the process.

Fifty percent of the applicants may not get the said free power. The very fact that is only for the poor people makes all the difference. Some of them are disappointed as they thought that all of them would get it .

Even some White ration card holders have good incomes these days. The Government must be careful in dealing with the situation.
