Telangana is proud to announce the successful completion of the “Hamara Shauchalay: Hamara Samman” campaign in observance of World Toilet Day 2024. Launched on November 19th, 2024, and concluding today, December 10th,2024, the campaign coincided with Human Rights Day to emphasize the
fundamental right to sanitation.
The Honorable Minister for Panchayati Raj & Rural Development, Rural Water Supply, Women and Child Welfare, Smt. Danasari Anasuya Seethakka Garu, launched the “Hamara Shauchalay: Hamara Samman” campaign with a BhoomiPooja and foundation laying ceremony for a Community Sanitary Complex (CSC) in Mulugu GP, Mulugu District.All 32 rural districts across Telangana actively participated in the campaign through a series of impactful events:
1. District Water and Sanitation Mission Meetings: These meetings were conducted across all districts on November 19th, 2024.Focused on identifying and addressing toilet gaps at the household level and in public spaces such as schools,healthcare centers, and Anganwadi centers.
2. Awareness Campaigns: Rallies, workshops, and community meetings were organized to raise awareness about the importance of sanitation and proper toilet usage.
3. IHHL Construction and Renovation: 8,732 sanction letters for Individual Household
Latrines (IHHLs) were distributed to eligible beneficiaries across the State. Construction
and renovation of toilets were undertaken to ensure adequate sanitation facilities for all.
4. Community Sanitary Complexes (CSCs): Special attention was paid to the functionality and aesthetic upliftment of CSCs. Repairs and restoration were carried out to enhance their usability and appeal. Additionally, 107 new sanctions for CSCs were issued.
5. Addressing Institutional Toilet Gaps: Toilets gaps were identified in schools,healthcare centers, and Anganwadi centers etc., and are being addressed.
6. Best IHHL/CSC Competitions: Competitions for the best IHHL and CSC were held,with winners honored to encourage community participation and pride in maintaining clean sanitation facilities. The winners of IHHLs and CSCs are as detailed below: IHHLs (1645 at the GP level, 301 at the Mandal level, and 32 at the District level), and CSCs (99 at the Mandal level and 15 at the District level).
7. Recognizing Sanitation Workers: Dignity camps were organized to acknowledge the exceptional contributions of sanitation workers and facilitate their enrollment in relevant schemes.
8. Social Media Campaign: A targeted social media campaign using platforms like Twitter
(X) and Facebook, with hashtags #ToiletsForDignity and #MyToiletMyPride, was launched to raise awareness and promote the campaign’s objectives.
