Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao has conveyed his greetings to the handloom workers, padmashali community in the state on the occasion of National Handloom Day. He said the exclusive handloom craft of Telangana mirrors Indian art and culture.

The CM said under self-governance, the government is giving utmost priority to the handloom sector and developing it.

He said in tune with the changed times, the government is also extending a helping hand to the powerloom workers welfare. With the government’s visionary approach and Minister KTR able administration, the handloom sector which was collapsed under the United AP rule is being revived within the short time.

The government has taken several measures to promote handloom products; the measures taken by government for the handloom sector have weaned away handloom workers from committing suicide and instil confidence among them.

Through Bathukamma sarees and other programmes the handloom weavers families are given assurance for their livelihood. The measures also created confidence and self-respect among them.

On the National Handloom day handloom artisans are being honoured by giving away awards to them under the name of Konda Laxman Bapuji awards. He said that the government is encouraging handloom sector by organizing exhibitions and fashion shows.

He said that insurance facility for handloom workers shall be implemented on par with the Rythy Bandhu. He also said that Telangana is the only state in the country giving pensions to the handloom workers.

The CM said that the innovative schemes being implemented for handloom workers were ideal for other states. The government is successfully implementing several schemes for the handloom workers like loan waiver scheme, Nethannalaku Cheyutha, Chenetha Mithra and also providing government share to the handloom societies and also providing subsidies for yarn, dyes and chemicals.

The CM expressed his happiness over the steps taken which are yielding good results. CM said that, socio-economic, political and administrative interests of padmashali community have been promoted by the state.
