Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan, Governor of Telangana reviewed the condition of the patients suffering with Tuberculosis with the Joint Director (TB), Government of Telangana, State Consultants, World Health Organization (WHO), Vice-Chairman, TB Association of Telangana, General Secretary, TB Association of Telangana and District Programme Officers (TB) through video conference today.
Governor enquired about the availability of sufficient medicines to TB patients, and notification of new cases.
While appreciating the efforts of the TB Controlling Officials in eradication of TB, Governor advised them officials to take utmost care of the TB patients, even though the entire medical fraternity is busy with COVID-19. The condition of TB patients is critical in view of Covid-19 as the symptoms of TB and COVID-19 are very much similar.
Governor also advised the TB officials to make sure that all new cases be notified and ensure providing nutritious food and vitamin supplements to TB patients, during the period of lockdown. If required they can seek the help from the Indian Red Cross Society. Governor advised the State Officials of TB control to take steps to have an exclusive helpline number for TB patients.
