There is no government in India where one can get a tap connection at Rs one. Yes it is possible in Telangana and also Hyderabad. It is a known fact that KCR the chief Minister gives a lot of prominence to water. It could be for irrigation or it could be for drinking purpose the TRS government gives all the priority. Now the water board officials are adopting a two-pronged strategy one is to stop the wastage of water and the other is to give connections to the poor and needy wherever necessary at just Rs one deposit.
They are touring the slum areas where water is being wasted and it is flowing on the roads by way of community taps. People are using the community taps on the roads and not able to stop the flow of water. It is getting wasted and flowing on the roads.This was observed by water board officials in many areas, especially in Hyderabad and Secunderabad slums. Taking this into account, the water board authorities have convinced the locals to take individual tap connections at just Rs one per connection so that they need not depend on the community taps.
If they get the individual connections the people will not depend on the community taps and the water will not be wasted in the long run.But one can say hats off to KCR for providing the water connection to the poor at Rs one, giving financial help to the farmers. Bringing farmers into insurance schemes which no other government has done so far.
