Governor of Telangana Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan, accompanied the Hon’ble President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu ji and participated in the closing ceremony of 125th Birth Anniversary Celebrations of Alluri Sitarama Raju, at Gatchibowli Stadium, Hyderabad, today evening (04.07.2023).
The Governor spoke in Telugu on the occasion. While paying tributes to the great freedom fighter, strong believer in social justice, who is also called Manya Veerudu (Hero of Jungle) by historians.
She said, when, India is celebrating Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav to commemorate 75th Anniversary of its Indian Independence. Celebration of 125th year Birth Anniversary of Shri Alluri Sitrarama Raju Garu with various programs and events is a very fitting tribute.
While quoting Swami Vivekananda she said, “Great things can be achieved only with great sacrifices”.
Shri Alluri Sitarama Raju, is best remembered for the sacrifices made by him to protect the interests and rights of the Tribes to safeguard their freedom and culture.
As we all know, when innocent Tribals of Vishakhapatnam and East Godavari districts were exploited and tortured by British imposing taxes on forest produce and various unlawful policies. He had given, Strength to these Powerless and Voiceless Tribes.
He not only motivated them with inspiring talks, also organized the tribal people of to wage war against the British Rule in the year 1922 itself.
He united various tribes, taught them guerrilla warfare and trained them to fight back with the colonial power. He was one of the bravest revolutionaries and freedom fighters.
We all remember him for his heroic acts of leading the Rampa Rebellion against the British. His story is very inspiring to youth and I find it still very relevant.
On this occasion, I also remember and pay tributes to the great Telugu film actors like, Super Star Shri Krishna guru, Vishwa Vikyatha, Shri N.T Rama Rao for portraying the character of Shri Sita Rama Raju garu and inspiring all of us.
India had a long journey of Socio-economic and Cultural Change of Tribals, in 75 years of Independence, with various development initiatives. I appreciate of our respective govts., for implementing various special schemes for development of tribals.
However, I feel, we all still need to work collectively; for the protection and development of Tribal Communities living in remote and hill areas.
She appreciated the organsing committee for celebrating Shri Alluri Sitaramaraju 125th Birth Anniversary with various events.
She requested all to, once again take a pledge; to work for ensuring the rightful and equitable development of the Tribal communities.
She said, this will be only, a fitting tribute, to the fearless hero of our freedom struggle, who, even though a non-tribal had fought for the rights and freedom of the tribal people.
