Governor Smt. Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan, inaugurated the “E-20 Summit and International Conference “Towards Net-zero in the Industrial Sector in G20”, organised by the Institution of Engineers (India), Hyderabad.
The Governor said, today being the first Friday of auspicious month of shravanam, prayed the goddess Bhyagyalaxmi Matha at Charminar for showering her blessings and giving me an opportunity to serve the nation particularly the people of Telangana and Puducherry.
I once again, take this opportunity at G20-E20 summit and congratulated the engineers and space technology scientist, who have directly or indirectly associated with ISRO for making India proud by becoming the first country to land for safe landing our spacecraft on South Pole of the moon. She also said, I am happy to mention that the state of Telangana in particular played major role in developing the launch vehicle and space craft.
Hon’ble Governor speaking about the importance of G20-E20 summit, said; environment protection is very important subject looking at the growing population of the country. It’s the responsibility of every individual to check on the increasing menace of carbon footprint and contribute in reducing it by practicing environment friendly life style.
She further said; carbon emission is the biggest challenge for the entire world. In India the demand for new electricity connections is growing, at 50 million per year, due to rapid growth of industrialization and urbanization.
Fortunately, looking at population of our country, we are at 3rd position in the world in carbon emissions, which is a blessing in disguise. India is only at 1/10th of energy consumption than US, per citizen average, but demand is growing rapidly.
Our bellowed Prime Minister is taking every step, to check on the carbon foot print. The central government has provided millions of new gas connections through Ujjwala Yojana, which has reduced 300% of carbon emission by using firewood in rural India.
Now through G20-E20 we aspire to achieve Net-Zero of carbon emission by 2050, its each one of our responsibility to grow more and more trees as trees observe carbon produce oxygen.
Govern Said; global warming, in simple word, is like a fever to earth and we need to treat it with Net-zero.
She further said; scale of development in the country is notable, laudable and appreciable, the way we are going forward, its not an easy task to accommodate the demand of increasing population and this should happen by taking constant efforts on producing renewable energy.
Finally she called for a very conscious approach towards development and needs very effective industrial policies and adaptation of the same.
