Governor Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan on Mondayparticipated at the inaugural event of the Saurashtra-Tamil Sangamam at Somnath in Gujarat.
Addressing the inaugural as the Guest of Honour, the Governor said that this Saurashtra-Tamil Sangamam event was aimed at celebrating the centuries-old cultural connectivity of the Saurashtrians and the Tamils.
She stated that as envisioned by our Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the celebration, strengthening, promotion, and perpetuation of cultural bonds among different regions of people would contribute to the concept of “Ek Bharath-Shrestha Bharath.
“Despite our unique diversities, India is a country that is strongly united by its underlying
cultural unity since times immemorial. It is that unity in diversity that gives our nation a
unique identity among the comity of the nations,” she added.
Hon’ble Union Deference Minister Rajnath Singh was the chief guest at the event, while Gujarat Chief Minister Shri Bhupendrabhai Patel and others were present.
Later, the Governor visited the historic Somnath temple, one of the 12 Jyothirlingas, and
performed puja.
The Saurashtra-Tamil Sangamam facilitates people from different walks of life from Tamil Nadu to visit places of importance in Gujarat and reinvent their cultural bonds that connect them for centuries.
