Governor Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan has called for greater awareness on healthy lifestyle and diet so as to prevent the alarming increase in the lifestyle-related diseases.
She stated that most of the diseases are preventable by adopting healthy lifestyle and diet patterns.
The Governor was addressing at a programme organized at the Yashodha Hospitals, here, on Friday, on the occasion of World Stroke Day-2021.
Expressing concern over the increasing number of stroke related deaths and cases resulting in disability even among the young people; Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan stated that better awareness is the key in the prevention and battling the stroke.
“There must be greater awareness on lifestyle diseases and their consequent impact on health leading to serious cases like the stroke,” she added.
Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan stated that serious disability due to the stroke is a major cause of concern as the families go through a lot of hardship and untold agony.
She said that it is a matter of concern that the stroke is the second leading cause of death worldwide.
The Governor, who is a medical professional, also pointed out that the good thing is that 70 per cent of the stroke cases are either preventable or treatable.
Recognizing early symptoms of stroke and acting fast to get the necessary medical help are vital in saving lives.
“We must strive hard to promote awareness on the Golden Hour and its importance in saving the lives in case of the stroke,” she added.
