A. The Call of The PM is only for switching off domestic lights. All other establishments/installations will continue to operate as usual.
B. Appliances other than domestic flights can be running.
C. Street lights *should* be kept switched on everywhere in urban as well as rural areas.
D. Lighting and other applications in hospitals, municipal services, police offices, essential services, and even in commercial establishments should not be switched off.
E. All protocols for grid safety to tackle the likely reduction in demand and surge in voltage, are in place and there is no need for any unnecessary apprehension or panic.
F. There is sufficient flexible generation( Hydel, gas, pump storage etc) available in the state and central grid to handle any contingencies.
G. All consumers and people at large should be advised about the above to ensure there is no panic.
H. Under no circumstances should any feeders at Apartment/Housing Society/RWA/any other
level be switched off in over-enthusiasm.
I. All protocols at SLDC are in place to take on any contingencies.
Meanwhile, the Secretary, Energy & Chairman and Managing Director/APTRANSCO, has
reviewed along with CMDs of DISCOMs Ms.Naga Lakhsmi Selvarajan, H Haranatha Rao and J
Padma Janardhan Reddy and top officials of Power utilities on the steps to be taken for grid stability and safety in view of the Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi ‘s appeal to turn off lights for 9 minutes on 5 th April .
He has categorically directed Joint Managing Director, HRD/APTRANSCO, K V N Chakradhar
babu to personally monitor the activities in co-ordination with Director Grid &
Transmission/APTRANSCO, Praveen kumar and other chief engineers.
