Swati Lakra IPS, Addl. Director General of Police, Telangana welcomed the judgement pronounced by Hon’ble Judge Sri Sudarshan, Special POCSO fast track court, Sangareddy in the Ameenpur rape and murder case of a minor girl.
This is a case of sexual assault on a 14 year old orphan minor girl by one of the donors of Orphanage Naredia Venugopal Reddy while she was in the Orphan home at Ameenpur, with the help of Smt. Chilukuri Vijaya. Founder of Maruthi Orphanage and her brother Surapaneni Jayadeep. Later the victim expired while undergoing treatment.
All the three accused were found to be guilty of the offence and convicted with LIFE Imprisonment and to pay a fine of Rs 10,000/- each.
The ADGP, who heads the Women Safety Wing of Telangana Police, congratulated SP Sangareddy and Investigating Officers of the said case along with the Ameenpur Police team, especially DSP, Sri Satyanarayana Raju, CI Mr Murali, the Court Constable, Mr Rukmender Rao, Mr Phani Kumar, Public Prosecutor. She also lauded Bharosa Centre of Hyderabad and the police officers of Women Safety Wing Sri Ashok, Addl. SP, Ms P. Renuka, CI and their team for close monitoring of the case at different stages. She also commended the efforts of Smt B. Sumathi IPS, DIG, Women Safety Wing for her continuous guidance in this case.
She further lauded the efforts of Smt. Divya Devarajan IAS Special Secretary & Commissioner WCD, Forensic Expert Dr Sudha and Medical Officer Dr Madhavi in bringing justice to the child. She further said that a beautiful convergence was achieved in this sensational case between all the departments like police, medical and health, women and child welfare, prosecution which helped in achieving justice for the girl child.
She stated that this case will be an eye opener for all those who are running Child Care Institutions in the state. Any type of abuse against children will not be tolerated and if found guilty, police will see that the abusers are punished under law.
