Swachhta Pakhwada for a clean environment

The Swachhata Pakhwada launched by Government of India, is a fortnight-long program observed to ensure mass participation of citizens in Swachhta activities and to truly transform Swachh Bharat into a citizen’s movement. The government of India has launched a nationwide cleanliness initiative in the form of “Swachhta Pakhwada” during September 2016 under the Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan, focusing on cleanliness and hygiene

Swachhta Action Plan is a milestone initiative in mainstreaming Swachhta elements across all sectors of the Government in an elaborate, accountable, and sustained manner to realize the Swachh Bharat of Gandhiji’s dream. “Swachhata Pakhwada” as a part of “Swachhta Abhiyan” was initiated, with the objective of bringing a fortnight of intense focus on the issues and practices of Swachhata-meaning Cleanliness. To support this great initiative of GoI and to create an awareness about the need of cleanliness.

The main purpose of this Programme was to create awareness among the citizens about the need and importance of clean environment. By organizing such events every citizen of India will have an understanding about their responsibility of ensuring cleanliness and be motivated to join hands together to make this initiative a successful mission.

The Department of Tourism, Government of Telangana in association with the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, GHMC, ASI, TSTDC, IHM &NITHM is organizing Swachhata Pakhwada activities in Telangana State.

➢ In accordance with the orders of Shri. Kalvakuntla Chandra Shekhar Rao, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Telangana, Swachhata Pakhwada is being organized at Charminar on 16th September, 2021 and will be continued till 30th September, 2021.

➢ The programme is being launched by Shri. V. Srinivas Goud, Hon’ble Minister for P&E, Sports & Youth Services, Tourism & Culture and Archaeology

➢ Tourist Destinations were taken up for organizing Swachhata Pakhwada duly playing street shows / short skits by the students of IHM&NITHM to sensitize the citizens about the surroundings on the Swachhata activities

➢ The Department has requested all the District Collectors to organize at various tourist destinations on the Swachhata Pakhwada for the period from 16th to 30th September, 2021.

➢ UNESCO had declared Ramappa Temple as UNESCO World Heritage Site with the effort of Shri. Kalvakuntla Chandra Shekhar Rao, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Telangana.
