The name of the Congress chief Rahul Gandhi was proposed by Stalin MK the DMK chief but it was shot down by the TMC Chief Mamata Banerjee. Stalin in a meeting with leaders of various other political parties said that the Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has got the ability to defeat the fascist regime of Narendra Modi.
But Mamata said that this was not the right time to discuss on the Prime Ministerial candidate and the leaders of other parties have also supported Mamata .
They opined that the formation of the alternative front against the BJP would set the ball rolling and there no hurry about the selection of the PM candidate at this point in time.
Mamata said that she cannot decide on the issue, and all other parties who would form the front should sit and decide over the candidate for the PM post. The TDP, Samajwadi, TMC, National conference, RJD and CPM rejected the idea of Rahul Gandhi which was proposed by Stalin.
The Congress has won 3 states in the Assembly elections, but people still are not convinced with the candidature of Rahul Gandhi for the PM post.
It looks like there will be few takers for Rahul.
Mamata and Maya could be the alternatives and could be supported by the TDP chief Chandrababu also. It has to be seen what course of action would the TRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao take in the near future. He is also campaigning for an alternative, but that is against the Congress and the BJP.
One has to see how far these fronts will succeed one with the Congress and the other minus Congress and the BJP.
