The state function of Amarajeevi Sri Potti SriramuluJayanti will be observed by TTD at Annamacharya Kalamandiram in Tirupati on March 16.
Potti Sreeramulu was an Indian freedom fighter from the state of Andhra Pradesh and was revered as Amarajeevi (immortal being) for his self-sacrifice for the formation of a separate state for Andhra Pradesh.
He became famous for undertaking a hunger strike for 56 days in support of having a separate state for Andhra Pradesh; he died in the process. The Jayanti fete will commence at 11 am on March 16.
The annual Brahmotsavams in Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy temple at Tarigonda are scheduled between March 16-24 with Ankurarpanam on March 15.
Important days includes Dwajarohanam on March 16, Garuda Seva and Kalyanotsavam on March 21, Dhooli Utsavam and Radhotsavam on March 22, Chakra Snanam on March 24.
TTD Chairman Sri Bhumana Karunakar Reddy said that the board has given opportunity to the former members of the TTD Board to have darshan of Srivaru with their family members (wife, children, mother and father alone) only for a few times in a year.
However, he said that some of the former board members are often seen violating this rule by bringing others along with them other than their family members for darshan of Srivaru frequently.
