Sonia Gandhi has been elected as the Congress Parliamentary Party chief today. It may be noted that the Congress party has lost miserably in the elections 2019 and now it has not got enough number of seats to get the status of the main opposition in the parliament.
Former parliamentary party chief Mallikarjun Kharge has lost the general elections this time and Sonia Gandhi has replaced him as the CPP chief. On the other hand, Rahul Gandhi is being urged by all the top leaders and the party cadres to continue as the party President. But he is wanting to resign from the post from time to time. Statements and phone calls are pouring in on a daily basis and the majority of them want Rahul to continue as the Congress chief.
It is crystal clear that the inclusion of Priyanka Gandhi has not made any difference for the Congress party. The people were not influenced by the talk or presence of Priyanka in the elections. They just supported Modi and voted for BJP.
The Congress party has won 52 seats with great difficulty and it requires another 3 seats for getting the status of the main opposition in the parliament. Rahul Gandhi today attended the Congress parliamentary party meeting in the morning and discussed various issues. It is reported that he was requested by some leaders and MPs not to resign for the party post.
The leaders and MPs also have discussed the strategy to corner Modi the PM and the BJP Government in the coming session of the parliament. But it is clear that the BJP will just bulldoze the decisions as there are no numbers for the Congress to oppose the Government.
