Smriti Irani the Union Minister has taken holy dip on the first day of the Kumbh Mela here at Prayagaraj. Soon after her holy bath, she has posted the photos on Instagram.
Over 1.5 crore people took the holy bath today in the name of Shahi Snan. Till 1.30 PM about one and a half crore pilgrims took part in the shahi snan as the Kumbmeala commenced here. 21 bathing ghats have been arranged and special provisions were made for the women. Women police were also posted in sensitive areas.
40 police stations and, 58 outposts have been created for the round the clock vigil at the Kumbh Mela area. For the first time, the flower shower is being done from the helicopters over the pilgrims who take holy bath and on the tourists walking the streets of Kumbh Mela. Naga sadhus with ash smeared bare bodies have become the centre of attraction for the tourists who have come for the mela. It was like a sea of humanity at the Sangam of rivers.
People believe that it si like taking the bath with gods in the river. 3 crore gods come to this place for taking the bath today it is believed.
