The glam actress, who has shed oodles of weight, has got a new lease of life in Mollywood films as her recent film Pulimurugan with Mohanlal has been declared a blockbuster, besides shattering several records.
“I shed about 20 kilos and was listening to scripts when director Vysakh narrated the Pulimurugan story. I was fascinated by the adventure element to the story, and was wondering how he would bring his vision alive. When he said that I play the role of Julie who hails from an affluent family and helps Mohanlal sir, I gave my nod right away,” quips Namitha on her re-entry.
The bubbly lady says that Lalettan is an intellectual person. “We all know he is a superstar and a great actor… but he is also very knowledgeable and a voracious reader!
Given any small break, one would see him reading a book. I can’t imagine anyone else other than Mohanlal sir for that ‘Pulimurugan’ character. Literally, he lived the role.”
The Billa actress also shares one of her many fan moment with the Malayalam icon — “I wanted to take a selfie with him, but was a bit apprehensive about how he’d react. To my surprise, he was very forthcoming and immediately agreed! I never thought that this picture would go viral.”
On balancing cinema and politics, she says, “I don’t find any difficulty in handling both. When I wanted to do something for the people of Tamil Nadu, I took a call and joined AIADMK, which cares for the well-being of the people.”
On a concluding note, Namitha says, “Amma (CM J. Jayalalithaa) has faced and crossed several hurdles in the past. She has God’s blessings and the prayers of millions of her followers.”She will come back hail and healthy Namitha opined.
