In the wake of recent series of accidents on Ghat roads, as a remedial measure, seeking the divine intervention, this unique Maha Shanti Homam which is mentioned in Vaikhanasa Agama is observed, said TTD EO Sri AV Dharma Reddy.
After participating in the Maha Shanti Homam held at the Seventh Mile Sri Prasanna Anjaneya Swamy statue in the Down Ghat road the EO said, the series of accidents included a overturn of an APSRTC bus, a few more accidents in the recent past, but without any major injuries to the devotees with blessings of Sri Venkateswara Swamy.
Following these incidents, a meeting was conducted with the District Collector, SP and RTC RM on how to overcome these Ghat Road accidents.
The Agama Advisors of TTD also suggested that we perform a Homam invoking the benign blessings of Sri Srinivasa Swamy and Sri Anjaneya Swamy for the benefit of devotees.
“Accordingly we have performed this Maha Shanti Homam in front of Sri Prasanna Anjaneya Swamy to avoid such mishaps on the ghat roads in future”, he added.
Later the Agama Advisor Sri Mohana Rangacharyulu and one of the Chief Priests of Tirumala temple Sri Venugopala Deekshitulu briefed about the significance of the Homam.
They said that the importance of conducting Maha Shanti Homam is mentioned in Vaikhanasa Bhagavat Shastra as a ‘Ritual of Remedy’ which will be observed whenever there are mishaps, panic situations, pandemics etc. This Homam will ensure the devotees reach their destination safely after completing their Tirumala pilgrimage, they added.
The Maha Shanti Homam commenced with Vishwaksena Aradhana, Punyahavachanam, Panchagavyaradhana, Raksha Bandhanam, Agni Pratista, Visesha Homam and concluded with Maha Purnahuti.
