Senior NTR remembered on his Jayanthi

Today is the 98th Jayanthi of NT Ram Rao who is popularly known as Anna NTR. Legendary actor NTR was born on 28th May 1923 into a small farming family in the village of Nimmakuru in Krishna District.

His family members paid rich tributes at the NTR Ghat in Hyderabad. The executive meeting of the TDP being held on his birthday is being done virtually due to corona.

The name NTR itself strikes a godly visual in a person’s mind. He was an actor, producer, director, editor and politician who served as Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh for seven years over three terms.

NTR received three National Film Awards for co-producing Thodu Dongalu and Seetharama Kalyanam under National Art Theater, Madras, and directing Varakatnam.

NTR acted in 5 roles and also directed a movie called Dana, Veera Sura Karana which was an all-time record. NTR also received Rashtrapati Awards for his performance(s) in the films Raju Peda and Lava Kusa.

His popular movies are Pathala Bhairavi, Maya Bazaar, Ramudu – Bheemudu, Dana Veera Soora Karna, Missamma, Gundamma Katha, Bobbili Puli, Vetagadu etc. NTR also portrayed negative characters like Ravana and Duryodhana in a heroic way.

NTR made his debut as an actor in a Telugu social film Mana Desam, in 1949, in the direction of L. V. Prasad but gained popularity in the 1950s when he became well known for his portrayals of Krishna and Rama roles.

He later became popular for hero characters in films. He starred in 300 films. “ Inthavadini Ayyanu” was the first dialogue Sr. NTR delivered on screen for ‘Manadesam’ which was released on 24th November 1949.

NTR entered politics when he founded the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) on 29 March 1982 in Hyderabad. He will forever remain in the hearts of Telugu people for his peerless services to the Telugu community.
