Seminar on warriors of Freedom struggle

Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR-SRC) Hyderabad organized a two-day national seminar on “Exploring the Contributions of the Unsung Warriors in Freedom Struggle – Contemporary Relevance” on August 23, 2023 at the University Campus.

Smt.Surabhi Vani Devi, MLC, attended as chief guest for the program, she said that the research conducted in the universities should be useful to the society, especially to bring out the struggles of the women fighters who participated in the freedom struggle, and hoped that the research should be an inspiration to the future generations of the female power of those days.

The fighters who participated in the freedom struggle should be invited and speak in the universities and they should be honored, She also said that such things give the youth a great feeling. She explained that Swami Ramananda Theertha is one of the greatest freedom fighters in history.

Prof.Rama Melkote, Former Hear, Department of Political Science, Osmania University, Educator and renowned writer, Keynote speaker of the program said that many people hear about Indian freedom fighters but do not find them in books. Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, the author of the Constitution, was not widely publicized until the 1980s, and his great way of thinking was widely known to the people of the country with the struggle of the Dalit communities. Telugu female heroes like Chakali Ailamma and Mallu Swarajyam have not received enough recognition, historians and writers want to focus on their struggles.

The Guest of Honour Dr.Ayachitam Sreedhar, Chairman, Telangana Grandhalaya Parishad said that if foreigners wrote the stories of Indian freedom struggle, the situation would be unknown. He said that there is a lot of history that we don’t know and researchers need to uncover it and save it in books.

Prof K. Seetharama Rao, Vice-Chancellor, BRAOU presided over the program. Prof. Rao wished to continue research in universities to uncover the history, culture and war stories of the fighters. Historians should continue research to eradicate the social ills in the society, remove superstitions and make people aware.
