Selfie mania is visible in all Pushkar ghats but forcing the police to impose restriction on this new favourite pastime in view of increased rush of devotees .Selfies with family and friends in the water has become a major pass time for the pilgrims coming to take a dip here in the sacred water on the eve of pushkarams.
Most of the people taking selfies are youngsters who are doing so while taking holy dips in the Krishna river waters. Some of them have reported that they have lost the phones in the water .
The Krishna Pushkaralu are celebrated once every 12 years so it is natural that the pilgrims want to preserve these moments for posterity. However, this selfie mania is leaving many mobile phones as they are slipping into the water. Some of them were seen searching for the phones in the waters.
The security personnel deployed at the ghats had a tough time keeping an eye on some overly adventurous selfie takers who posed a risk to themselves with their concentration focused on capturing the moment. Devotees said that their phones were rendered useless after falling in the water.
However, the police, observing the selfie mania had turned into a nuisance and was disturbing the rituals . The police were seen suggesting pilgrims not to carry phones into the water and do not try for the selfies and there by losing phones.
