Tollywood is replete with several instances where portions of a film leaked before their release and the film went on to become a blockbuster hit.
Recently, the climax scene of Baahubali 2 was leaked and the police nabbed the culprit in Vijayawada. However, as in the past, ultimately nothing is set to happen.People say Om Namo Venkatesaya directed by Raghavendra Rao was also leaked where Nagarjuna is playing the role of Lord Venkateshwara.
Sometimes filmmakers themselves leak the film, as they get publicity for it. For instance, the whole industry responded when the Pawan Kalyan-starrer Atharintiki Daredi leaked, but after a few days everyone forgot about it. No one got to know who leaked it and who got punished for those videos.
In most of these cases, the names of a few technical staff usually come out, but in the end they get off easily as it is not that big a crime.
Several Tollywood films that were leaked went on to become hits. Atharintiki Daredi was leaked entirely. The same happened with Ram Charan’s Nayak where a complete song was leaked. A few minutes of footage from the first part of Baahubali was also leaked before it became a big hit.
The leakage of the footage is being played up as a big news in majority of the channels and it could be paid communication say industry analysts.
