TTD has appealed to devotees as well to locals to utilize the water in a thrift manner avoiding unnecessary wastage.
The water available in the five prime dams at Tirumala has been assessed to meet the water needs of the locals and pilgrims at the Hill Town which will suffice the requirements for the next 120-130 days due to meagre rainfall received so far.
Daily nearly 43 lakh gallons of water is being consumed in Tirumala out of which 18LG are procured from Tirumala dams and remaining from Kalyani Dam located in Tirupati.
The total storage capacity of Gogarbham, Akasa Ganga, Papa Vinasanam,Kumaradhara and Pasupudhara dams in Tirumala is 14,304lakh gallons out of which only available at present in Tirumala is around 5800lakh gallons only.
In the larger interest of the pilgrims visiting Tirumala during the ensuing annual brahmotsavams which is scheduled from October 4 to 12, TTD has appealed to devotees as well locals to avoid wastage of water and also contemplating some measures towards the regulation of the water consumption if the extraordinary situation persists in next few months.
