The 36th boys 19th girls sub-junior national wrestling championship, conducted by Wrestling Association of Andhra Pradesh ended on a happy note at the DSA sports complex, Chittoor on Sunday.

More than 900 wrestlers, representing around 27 states and a couple of union territories took part in the three-day meet.

But a couple of local news papers publishing reports of some Astin-3 injuctions being found at the corner of the stadium was absolute rubbish. We learnt through reports that some people made allegations intentionally to tarnish the image of the APOA wrestling officials, who worked pretty hard for the success of this event.

`All satisfied with the conduct of the meet'

Talking on telephone, the general secretary of the Wrestling Federation of India Prasood said, “we are all very much satisfied with the facilities provided to all. This is perhaps the best tournament conducted ever in this region. The technical officials, referees did their jobs superbly. The matches were held on time as there was hardly any delay. The event went on smoothly. As far the reports appeared in local news papers, I reckon there was no truth in it.The players maintained good discipline. Neverthless it is the duty of NADA to conduct examination and there was nothing wrong on our part. We all did our duties honestly as we always do.”

The treasurer of APOA, K Padmanabh Rao also strongly condemned saying, “ I have been involved in so many big tournaments conducted as an administrator and I can proudly say this is one of the best tournaments organised systamaticaly by Andhra Pradesh Wrestling Association. We have taken every minute care to satisfy everyone. There was no complaint from any side. The reports appeared in some newspapers are absolutely false.” He further opined,“well we and the WFI had also written a letter to SAI prior to the meet to send an observer from NADA, and that is their duty. But everyone expressed happiness as the meet was a grand success”.
