Minister for Municipal Administration and IT KT Rama Rao issued Zero water Bills today for the residents who were eligible for free water in Hyderabad.
KTR after launching the government’s free drinking water scheme at Rahmath Nagar issued zero water bills as part of the free water scheme to some beneficiaries at their doorsteps.
Saying that history was being created, KTR said Sankranti was being celebrated two days in advance. Around 9.5 lakh families would be benefited as per the 20000 litres provision and for the slum areas, no bills will be issued, he said.
For the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation elections, Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao had announced that from December, free drinking water would be supplied to all the beneficiaries and today on January 12, the promise has been fulfilled, KTR said.
The Rs.500 crore burden arising due to the implementation of the scheme will be borne by the State government, said KTR. The same will be reimbursed to the water supply board he stated.
The Twin cites of Hyderabad was being supplied safe drinking water from River Godavari and River Krishna. And projects are being taken up to ensure there is no shortage of drinking water the Minister added.
