A revamped ‘Social Media Wing’ was inaugurated by the Commissioner of Police, Cyberabad, VC Sajjanar, IPS., at Cyberabad Commissionerate in the presence of all DCPs, ACPs, Inspectors and other Police Officers.
The Social Media is nowadays being used by each and every one. We cannot find a person who is not in social media. In order to exploit the spread of social media Cyberabad Police has revamped the existing ‘Social Media Wing’ with a renewed objective of not only being responsive to the needs of the people but also to create awareness among the public about various offences happening in the society. It also aims at Public Participation to prevent offences like Cyber Crimes, Economic Offences,Crime against Women & Children etc by empowering them.
Social Media Team was initially set-up in August 2014 to monitor the different social media handles of the Cyberabad Police to transform Telangana State Police into a Citizen Friendly and Responsive Police. It was established to keep an eye on critical issues which are being discussed regularly among citizens on the internet on these platforms and to bridge the gap between the expectations of the public and delivery of police services.
To reach out to maximum people through social media platforms for creating awareness and thus ensure prevention of various Crimes. It also aims at knowing the pulse of the public thereby improving the performance of the police in order to keep up with the expectations of the society at large.
The Social Media Wing comprises of five different teams which will concentrate on their respective area of expertise and they strive towards creating awareness among the public regarding various crimes & thus ensure prevention of further similar crimes. It mainly Engages & Empower th Public.
