A son of a jaggery merchant Nadar has filed a case against Kaala team and Rajinikanth the hero saying that they have shown his father in bad light. This jaggery and Sugar merchant was from Tuticorn and later shifted to Dharavi and his son says that Nadar was not involved in any illegal activities. Saying that they have showed his father in a bad light he has sent a legal notice for defamation of Rs 101 crore.

The film unit and Rajinikanth said that they will reply to the notice at the appropriate time and also clarified that the movie was not about the Jaggery merchant who was called as Kaala seth and Gudwala seth. Meaning black merchant and jaggery merchant.

Rajinikanth in an informal chat said that the film has some political flavour but it was not a political film. Dhanush produced the film and it is like a launch pad for Rajini into politics. Earlier Rajinikanth has made a statement that people should not protest for everything or else Tamilnadu would turn into a graveyard. This did not go well with the masses here.

Rs101 crore notice to Kaala Rajini

Political analysts are of the opinion that Rajini has made a wrong statement in a haste.

Later Rajini apologised for his remarks. Pa Ranjith of Kabali fame has directed the movie. On the other hand there are no takers for this movie in Telugu. Dhanush is demanding Rs 40 crore and the buyers are in doubt if they will be able to do that kind of business.
