A new scheme to award the Good Samaritans has been formulated by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH), GoI.

In this scheme, a cash reward of Rs 5000 will be given to such Good Samaritans for their efforts in helping the accident victims.

A district-level committee under the District Collector will be reviewing such proposals sent by the local PS SHO as per Annexure A given in the scheme.

This scheme will be effective from 15.10.2021 and will be in operation up to 31.03.2026 (15 th Financial Cycle).

So, all SHOs are requested to go through the scheme provisions, understand and give wide publicity in their area among the public.

Also, identify eligible Good Samaritans and send proposals as per the procedure.
Earlier people used to avoid the accident victims as they were afraid of the police cases. Now there will be no medico-legal cases and instead will be rewarded by the police.
