Candidate Master R. Raja Rithvik of Hyderabad bagged Silver Medal for Telangana in the Under-13 National Schools Chess Championship-2017 held at Nagpur from 5th to 8th January,2017.
Rithvik, studying 8th class in Orchids International School, Jubilee Hills, Hyderabad got the National Runner-Up title by scoring 8 points out of 9 rounds in the prestigious National games organized at Nagpur.
Raja Rithvik drew the game in the final round with Mehta Naitik of Gujarat and both got equal 8 points. But Raja Rithvik had to contend with Silver Medal based on the Computerized Tie-Break System, which declared Mehta Naitik as Winner and Raja Rithvik as Runner-Up. Presently Rithvik is having international ELO rating of 1991.
Raja Rithvik, has been undergoing advanced coaching at RACE Chess Academy under the Reputed Coach Sri N.Rama Raju. More than 100 top players from all states such as Tamilnadu, Gujarat, Maharashtra, New Delhi, West Bengal, Goa, Karnataka, Orissa, Punjab, and Madhya Pradesh have participated in the National games organized by All India Chess Federation at Nagpur.
Previously, Raja Rithvik had bagged Silver medal in the Commonwealth Chess Championship-2012, Gold Medals in Asian Chess Championships conducted at Singapore (2015), Bangkok (2014), Srilanka (2013).
Rithvik brought laurels to the country by bagging several medals/credentials in Common Wealth Chess Championship-2016 held at Colombo, World Schools Chess Championship-2015 at Thailand, Asian Youth Championship-2014 at Tashkent, New Delhi Grand Masters Chess Championship-2016, Chennai Grand Masters Chess Championship-2016, KIIT International Chess Tournament-2016 at Bhubaneswar.
In due Recognition of his excellent performances at International Tournaments, recently the World Chess Federation (FIDE) had conferred the prestigious title of “Candidate Master” on Raja Rithvik. Nowadays, he is more often competing in the senior category and achieving commendable results.
