Chief Secretary Santhi Kumari directed the District Collectors to sensitize the people about sunstroke, de-hydration etc due to high temperature during the months of April and May.
CS reviewed the drinking water supply in the state,precautionary measures to be taken in the wake of rising temperatures, provision of infrastructure in schools and purchase of paddy during a video conference with the District Collectors today.
Chief Secretary said that during these two months, there is a possibility of severe heat wave conditions with temperatures reaching 45 degrees in the state mainly in districts like erstwhile Adilabad, Karimnagar, Warangal and Khammam.
People should be made aware about the precautions to be taken in summer.
Santhi Kumari stated that ORS packets, IV fluids and other medicines in large quantities have been distributed to all the districts and they have been made available in the respective primary health centres and sub-centres. Similarly, ORS packets are also available with Asha workers and at employment guarantee work centers, she said. Children and elderly people are advised to take care not to venture out in the hot sun particularly between 11 am to 4 pm.
Special officers to monitor fresh water supply CS informed that special officers are being appointed at every mandal and village for effectively monitoring water supply. She said that a district level officer is appointed for each mandal and a mandal level officer is appointed for each ward and village to monitor the supply of fresh water every day. She said that water supply in the district will be monitored by the Additional Collector of local bodies. She advised to draw water from agricultural wells on rent If there is any disruption in the supply of fresh water in any village. Water should also be provided through water tankers. Repairs and flushing of borewells in all the villages and wards is completed and the leakages to the pipe lines have been stopped.

Establishment of 7149 centers for purchase of Paddy She informed that 7149 centers have been set up in the state for the purchase of Yasangi paddy and all these centers will be opened in the next four to five days. Paddy purchases through the procurement centers already started are going on in full swing. She asked to identify those who open private kantas in the villages and buy at a lower price than the MSP and take appropriate action. The Collectors were directed to start all the works taken up in all the government schools under the Mana Ooru-Manabadi program in the state immediately through the concerned agencies and monitor their progress.
