The Shahi Imam of Jama Masjid has announced that Eid ul-Fitr will be celebrated on Saturday, June 16, as the Moon was not sighted anywhere across the country on Thursday. Since Islamic calendar follows the lunar cycle, a new month begins with the sighting of the Moon. The sighting of the Moon signifies the end of the Ramadan month.
