Governor Dr. (Smt.) Tamilisai Soundararajan participated in the Celebrations of “Rakhi for Soldiers”, at Raj Bhavan, organized by Samskruti Foundation in association with the Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS), Telangana State Branch .
The objective of the “Rakhi for Soldiers” program is to foster an invaluable exchange by way of tying Rakhis by students to esteemed military officers while celebrating the spirit of guardianship and patriotism.
This interaction will leave an indelible mark on the students, reminding them of their responsibilities as future custodians of our nation’s heritage.
The Governor said that, ‘Raksha Bandhan’ is an auspicious event celebrated all over India with sisters tying Rakhis to brothers, seeking their protection and blessings. She said; similarly sisters should extend their love and affection towards brothers also. Celebrating occasions like these bind families together, said the Governor. She wished peace and happiness on the occasion, to people of Telangana.
This is the first time that Rakhi for Soldiers program is being organized here. In the history Raj Bhavan this the first time, we are celebrating Raksha Bhandan with Soldiers. We are also proud are to reach the moon and let’s also celebrate the joys moment on this occasion.
Thanks to the Hon’ble Prime Minister, We have so many cultures and diversities and many languages, still we have a great bondage and integration. Our ancestors have founded these cultural practices and celebrations to nurture strong family and social bondages.
When we tie Rakhi we adopt a brother or sister Vice- Versa. The brother and sister bondage is not only established by birth. It is nurtured through our social and cultural norms of living in a neighborhood or village and also through friendship.
We need to sow this seed time to time. We have bondage with soldiers. We are able to celebrate festivals like these; we are living and leading our lives because soldiers are keeping us safe at home. Their contribution is immense. Young generation is present with us. We are growing from below poverty line to better lives. I am expressing today through this event that, I am tying Rakhi to all the citizens of Telangana.
Students from different schools in Twin Cities, and Chennai, esteemed military officers participated in the programme and tie Rakhis to the Governor. The Governor Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan, actively interacted with school students who came to wish them.
