Rajinikanth gets Dadasaheb Phalke Award

Superstar Rajinikanth is all set to receive the Dadasaheb Phalke Award. This was announced by Union Minister Javdekar. This is the 51st award being announced to Rajinikanth.

The Dadasaheb Phalke Awards is India’s highest award in cinema and is presented annually at the National Films Awards ceremony by the Directorate of Film Festivals, an organisation set up by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. … Dada made India’s first full-length feature film Raja Harishchandra in 1913.

It may be noted that Rajinikanth who was supposed to contest the Assembly elections has withdrawn completely from politics as he is not keeping well.

He was shooting in Hyderabad when he had to be rushed to Apollo for health reasons. After discharging from the Hospital, Rajini announced that he will not come into politics.

Rajinikanth is one of the most influential and bankable movie stars in Indian cinema. Rajinikanth’s mass popularity and appeal is largely drawn from his mannerisms and stylized delivery of dialogue. He received India’s third-highest honour, the Padma Bhushan, for his contribution to Indian cinema. Other than acting, Rajinikanth worked as a screenwriter, film producer and also playback singer.

Rajinikanth has acted in a total of around 200 movies, which includes Tamil, Kannada, Telugu, Malayalam, Hindi, English and Bengali films. Rajinikanth made a foray into Bollywood with Andha Kanoon, but did not make as much of an impact as he had in the south.
