Raja Singh to approach court against PD act

Raja Singh the BJP MLA is all set to approach the court against his arrest under the PD act. He wants to question why MIM MLA Akbaruddin was released even after making derogatory comments in public against Lord Rama and Sita.

Akbar was given the benefit of doubt saying that there was no proper evidence.

Cases against the MLA were booked at various police stations in different parts of Hyderabad and other districts of Telangana for promoting enmity between the sections of people on the grounds of religion.

He was arrested in connection with the cases booked at two police stations. However, during arguments on his bail petition, his counsel brought to the notice of the court that the police did not follow the Supreme Court guidelines with regard to the cases under Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections which provide for a maximum punishment of seven years imprisonment.

According to Hyderabad police records, out of 101 criminal cases registered against Raja Singh since 2004 in different police stations in the city, 18 were communal offences, a press note issued on Thursday said.

The Mangalhat police executed the PD order and he is being lodged in Cherlapally Central Prison in Hyderabad.

The MLAs family members met him today at the Jail during the Mulakhat time. His advocate also discussed various issues pertaining to cases with the MLA Raja Singh.
