Rains pound Mumbai

Mumbai is under water due to heavy down pour. Some flights have been rescheduled while some have been cancelled due to bad weather.

Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has said the administration is alert and rescue agencies such as NDRF and SDRF have been instructed to keep vigil and rescue residents wherever needed.

He has said that the state government has also spoken to the Army and said its help will be sought if required. “I am closely monitoring the situation. I appeal to Mumbaikars, please stay at home unless it is absolutely necessary,” the Chief Minister said.

Speaking about the situation in Pune, Shinde said he had spoken to officials in the city and will airlift people if required. He said he has spoken to the Army and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF). “If the need arises, we have told them to airlift people.
