Rain plays havoc in Hyderabad

Heavy rains which lashed the city of Hyderabad early this morning wreaked havoc again as several roads were inundated, forcing people to wade through knee-deep water.

The city received heavy rain and Met officials have predicted more rains today due to the depression prevailing over the State. Hyderguda is under knee-deep water.

Many areas in Musheerabad are underwater. A girl died by accidentally falling into the manhole at Kalasiguda. She slipped into the manhole while saving her brother who is physically challenged.

The GHMC officials opened the manholes to clear rainwater and failed to put up warning signals. Rainwater is creating problems at the Lakdikapool metro station.

7Centimetres rain was recorded in an hour in the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad. Towlichowki is also under the Knee deep water. More rain is expected by this evening in Hyderabad. Traffic police are trying to clear rainwater in many areas to clear the traffic snarls. The GHMC staff is already working to clear the rainwater on the roads.
