Rain for the last 13hours

It was raining cats and dogs across Hyderabad and also other districts for over 13 hours all night. There is very little traffic this morning as the rains continued.

With rainfall over the next 24 hours, the IMD said that there was a flash-flood risk in Bhadradri Kothagudem, Asifabad, Mancherial, Peddapally, Jayashankar Bhupalapally, Mulugu, Nizamabad, Kamareddy, Vikarabad, Jagtial, and Medak.

After a brief break, the city experienced moderate rainfall from late evening, with the IMD stating that the southwest monsoon had been vigorous over the state and multiple weather systems will contribute to very heavy rainfall in the state over the next three days.

It is water all over the roads and the drains are overflowing. There is no respite for the rain and the GHMC staff has been working to clear the water clogs.

The low-pressure area had further intensified into a well-marked one, lying over west-central and northwest Bay of Bengal, off north Andhra Pradesh and south Odisha.

Small dams are getting breached and the water is overflowing over some dams. There is a risk to some old dams in the districts of Telangana.

It will develop into a depression and move towards the Andhra Pardesh-south Odisha coasts in the next 24 hours.

The state will continue to experience moderate to heavy, accompanied by thundershowers and gusty winds, in the week ahead.
