The rain did a carpet bombing across Hyderabad overnight and the city received rainfall which is supposed to fall in a month’s time. The three days’ rain was equal to the rain which is supposed to happen in a month’s time.
Hyderabad was in total chaos with scenes of waterlogging, traffic jams, and flooded roads, including the newly laid ones and potholes. Incidents of houses collapsing were also reported, but no casualties were reported.
Minister for IT and Municipal Administration K Taraka Rama Rao was on his toes in alerting the officials and alerting the officials in arresting the situation to bring normalcy.
KCR the CM has ordered a holiday for two days. He advised Labour Ministry to see that the private organizations are also closed.
The awareness video of the Hyderabad police, explaining the precautions to be taken during rains, went viral on social media platforms. Sharing the video on Twitter CP C.V. Anand tweeted, “Since it’s #raining continuously, please listen to @hydcitypolice staff on duty and be careful.”
Traffic cops and police personnel from other wings and civic wings were seen stationed at some of these locations, clearing water logging, and regulating traffic, but their efforts proved to be of little help to the commuters.
The GHMC and police have been doing their best to keep the situation under control. Right now the city is drenched in water. It will easily take a week for the city to become normal.
