The police raided on the liquor and Gutka sellers en route Tirumala. Cigarette packs were also recovered from Pan shops and push carts.
Smoking is banned on TTD. But there is information that these days Ganja is being sold and used on TTD. Liquor is being sold here and there in the from of quarter bottles.
TTD EO J Syamala Rao warned on stringent action against the shopkeepers if they sell articles with higher prices than fixed by the TTD to the devotees who come to Tirumala for the darshan.
Following the complaints by some devotees about a few shopkeepers alongside Srivari Mettu footpath route selling at high prices and Srivari Mettu route the EO directed JEO Health and Education Smt Goutami to look into the issue. Under her supervision, TTD Estate Officer Sri Guna Bhushan Reddy inspected three shops at Srivari Mettu.
It was found that the goods were being sold at high prices in shop number-3. In this context, the EO said that strict action will be taken if the prices are higher than those prescribed by TTD to the devotees anywhere in Tirumala and Tirupati.
A show cause notice will be issued to Sri Vinod Kumar of shop 3 who sold at high prices in violation of the TTD rules along with a fine of Rs.25 thousand rupees will be imposed against him.
