The Supreme Court today stayed Rahul Gandhi’s conviction in defamation case in Modi surname case. The verdict also restored the Senior leader’s status as Lok Sabha MP.
Senior Congress leaders hailed the Supreme Court’s interim order as a ‘victory of truth’.
Priyanka Gandhi said on Twitter, “Three things cannot be long hidden: the sun, the moon, and the truth ~Gautama Buddha’.” The Congress general secretary thanked the apex court for the decision and wrote “Satyameva Jayate”.
Rahul Gandhi can now return to Parliament from Monday. However, the Lok Sabha secretariat has to issue a notice stating his suspension from the Lok Sabha has been removed following the Supreme court decision.
It’s a happy day…I will write and speak to Lok Sabha Speaker today itself,” said Congress MP Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury.
“Congratulations to the people of Wayanad upon having their representation in the Lok Sabha restored,” tweeted National Conference vice president Omar Abdullah.
