Rahul Gandhi the Congress leader is in a dilemma over the Ayyappa darshan for women. Earlier in his statement, Rahul agreed with the court that women of all ages must be allowed for darshan and that men are equal to the women. But the Kerala unit of the Congress says that women above 50 should only be allowed for Ayyappa darshan. In his latest statement, Rahul Gandhi says both have valid reasons. He agrees that traditions should be followed.
Rahul was addressing a press conference at Dubai and said that loud thinking has to be made over the issue. Rahul seems to have changed from his earlier position. Women should have equal rights but the tradition has to be protected he opined. The Kerala unit of the Congress represents the emotions of the local people and protects the tradition. He said that the issue is more complicated and left it for the people to decide. After talking to the local people he found that the issue has two sides and both of them have the valid reasons.
