Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Tuesday accused Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi of violating protocol on his recent visit to Gujarat last week.
Singh was responding to the allegations made by Congress members in Lok Sabha that Rahul could have been killed in Gujarat where stones were pelted on his car.
Singh told the Lok Sabha that the Gujarat Police was informed two days in advance before he arrived in the state.
“Rahul Gandhi is under SPG protection. The state police had made adequate arrangement for the visit. He was even provided a bullet-proof car. But he opted for a non-bullet proof vehicle. He should have listened to the advice of security personnel. But he did not,” he said. Rahul avoids security while he is on foreign trips.
Singh added that had Rahul used vehicle provided by police, the incident could be avoided.
