Rahul Gandhi the Congress chief and Chandrababu the leader of the Opposition was not invited to visit the statue of equality so far. Rahul with all the information at his disposal said that the statue was made in China.

He ridiculed that the new India under BJP and Modi is dependent on China.

Kishan Reddy the Union Minister for Tourism was responding to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s jibe at the policy. In a tweet, Gandhi said the 216-feet statue of 11th Century saint Ramanujacharya was made in China. “New India’ is China-nirbhar meaningChina reliant,” Gandhi tweeted.

Rahul Gandhi’s tweet followed reports that major work on the statue was carried out in China and it was brought to India in 1,600 pieces. The installation took about 15 months.

The Sardar Patel statue was also made in China and assembled in India. The same was followed for the statute of equality.

Kishan Reddy said the funds for the statue were raised privately with no financial support from the Centre. He added Gandhi’s comment “only exposes his own ignorance and shallowness”. Reddy said by “blabbering without knowing facts Gandhi continues to sink himself and reduce his party to dust.”

KCR who was in the forefront for the project did not join the celebrations with the PM and President. Chandrababu was not invited to the statue by the organisers.
