Overseas Friends of BJP has joined and participated in a protest, against CNN’s controversial documentary “Believer” hosted by controversial journalist Reza Aslan, along with American India Community and over 30 various social and religious organizations.

These protests are spread-out throughout various cities including Atlanta, Houston, Washington and New York Protests, against the controversial documentary, has been reported various Indian cities including Calcutta. People were shouting slogans against CNN, such as “CNN –down, down”, “Racist – CNN”, “Hate News – CNN” and so on. Few placards were shown “Limited Knowledge, Unlimited Bias –that’s CNN for you”, “RACIST CNN, STOP HATE” and “CNN STOP AGAINST HINDUS”

Major objections were against distasteful graphic imagery showed on CNN. Due to these inflammatory portrayals of Hindus and Indians in general may lead to more racial attacks and stereotyping of Hindu community, which is already at the receiving end of hate crimes in the USA. Recently there has been sharp increase in these racial attacks in the USA.

Houston event saw many Hindu organizations coming together for this most important issue faced by the Hindu community in India. Despite inclement weather, over 50 persons gathered at Sugar Land Town square to condemn CNN for inciting #Hinduphobia. #HinduLivesMatter campaign activists asked for CNN to be shut down for fanning racism.

Many Indian American organizations participated in a protest in front of CNN headquarters in Atlanta. They condemned the airing of the show and demanded an apology from CNN and Reza Aslan.
