Governor Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan has given a call to all to take the energy conservation as the personal responsibility.
She stated that wastage of energy today will result in the energy shortage tomorrow.
“Energy conservation, efficient use of energy, and the promotion of renewable energy sources are vital for the country to realise its goal of emerging as the energy independent country during the next 25 years,” she added.
The Governor, as the chief guest, was addressing the Telangana State Energy Conservation Awards (TSECA-2021) function, organized by the Telangana State Renewable Energy Development Corporation, here, on Sunday.
Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan emphasized on the need for promoting awareness at all levels on energy conservation.
“The energy conservation must begin at our homes and then the country will automatically avoid lot of energy consumption that is resulting in global warming and the fast depletion of national resources,” she added.
The Governor pointed out that need to promote alternate energy production and its use in order to reduce our dependency on fossil fuels.
“Efficient use of energy and its conservation assumes greater importance. One unit of energy saved at the consumption level reduces the need for fresh capacity creation by nearly 2 times,” she said.
The Governor highlighted the use of LED bulbs and other energy-efficient equipment at all levels.
The Governor appreciated the efforts of the State of Telangana in the power sector and its initiative to promote greenery through Haritha Haram.
The Governor asked the Telangana State Renewable Energy Development Corporation to intensify its efforts in promoting the renewable energy in a bigger way.
Special Chief Secretary to Government of Telangana Sunil Sharma, and TS Genco and Transco CMD D. Prabhakar Rao and other senior officials were present.
The Governor appreciated the award winners for their efforts in energy conservation.
