After paying floral tributes on the occasion of the Birth Anniversary of DR. B.R. AMBEDKAR, main architect of our constitution, here at Vidyut Soudha, Sri D. Prabhakar Rao, CMD/TSGENCO & TSTRANSCO at Vidyut Soudha, said that Government of Telangana has introduced several public welfare programmes.
Power sector plays a pivotal role in successful implementation of all these schemes. The present contracted capacity (18,528MW) is more than the double that was on the date of formation of Telangana State (7,778MW). Further 8,035 MW projects are under various stages of development to meet the growing loads of lift irrigation, industrial and other categories.
In an endeavour to become self-sufficient on power front, all four units of Bhadradri Thermal Power Station (4x270MW) were commissioned and the works at 5x800MW Yadadri Thermal Power Station are expedited and all five units will be commissioned in full shape by next year.

Further, transmission and distribution network is strengthened andaugmented with an investment of Rs. 39,092 Crores. Telangana has become the first state to provide 24-hours free power supply to agriculture sector having huge base of around 27.5 lakhs agricultural connections from 01.01.2018 onwards.
The State grid has met a highest peak demand of 15,497 MW on 30.03.2023 and recorded the highest consumption of 297.89MU on 14.03.2023 which are all time records in the history of Telangana. Further, ; D System is fully geared up to meet load up to 17000.
