The Polavaram works have come to a standstill. The workers are agitating and they are not taking up the spillway works. The YSRC Government which talked against the project is now taking up the project works in the name of completing the project.
It is reported that the differences have cropped up between the workers and the contractors here. The police came in large numbers to the project to control the workers.
It is reported death a worker died at the project site by accidentally falling. The workers charged that enough safety measures are not taken at the site.
They refused to take up the work this morning. The supervisors are waiting to see that the matter is settled between the workers and the contractors.
Nara Chandrababu Naidu monitored the works regularly when he was the Chief Minister. There were allegations of misappropriation of funds in the name of Polavaram project.
But the centre declared that everything was alright. Now it is the duty of the YSRC to take up the works at a brisk pace and completing them at the earliest possible.
But there’s workers unrest at the project site. We have to see how things change in the near future.
