A plea against the Chief Justice of India was rejected and told that it cannot be done as he is supreme authority. The three-member bench of the supreme court today said that the plea to frame fresh guidelines on the allocation of the case cannot be entertained.
The bench said that the CJI is the first among the equals and has the ultimate authority to decide on the allocation of the setting of the benches.
The plea was filed by 4 top judges who earlier held a press meet against the CJI and his priority of the cases. They objected to the way of his functioning. They also found fault with the constitution of the benches.
The bench said that it was scandalous to go against the CJI and he himself was an ultimate authority and institution.
