The TTD authorities have tried to ban plastic on Tirumala Tirupathi Devasthanam several times. But it is not being implemented so far. Pilgrims are using plastic bags to carry the world popular TTD Laddu Prasadam.
Tonnes of waste is being generated at TTD on a daily basis and the waste is being recycled as manure. The first move of the TTD is to stop water bottles being sold on Tirumala. EO Singhal and TTD chief Subbareddy said that the sale of water bottles will be stopped slowly.
We do not know what is the alternative for the water bottles here on Tirumala.
Free food in the form of sambar rice and upma is given on TTD, but the quality of the food is very poor and sometimes either it is overcooked or not cooked at all. Upma is of very bad quality.
Even Pilgrims are misguided with the dress code. The dhoti sellers just trick the pilgrims that there will no darshan with pants and sell dhotis. Pilgrims are forced to wear dhoti over the pants for the darshan.
The TTD must spell out as to what are the rules for getting a VIP darshan. They must also give details as to who actually comes under the protocol. Nothing is clear with the TTD darshan and accommodation as of now. People were never happy with the Lagu and Mahalaghu darshan which was introduced by Dharma reddy.
